Green Drinks Milwaukee: Milwaukee’s Monthly Green Networking Event

Join us for good drinks, good conversation and a chance to network with other environmentally minded people. Let’s bring together the environmental/ green/ sustainability community in Milwaukee and have fun doing it!

  • Best Place at the Historic Pabst Brewery. 901 W Juneau, Milwaukee. map it This unique German-style beer hall is located in the Pabst Brewery re-development.   • Parking: There is free two-hour street parking until 9pm in front of the building, or metered parking on 8th Street and 10th Street. Caution: they do ticket in the evening here. Alternatively, the parking structure across the street offers parking at $0.75/hour, unless there is a special event.

TOPIC: Community Composting

SUMMARY: 

Kompost Kids is a volunteer-run, nonprofit organization dedicated to transforming our “waste” stream through active landfill diversion and local disposal of food residuals and other compostables. Kompost Kids’ mission is to educate the public, individuals, businesses, and institutions about the benefits of compost and to reclaim organic materials from landfills to create soil for community-based agriculture projects.

BIO: 

Marion Ecks is the Secretary of the Board of Directors for Kompost Kids. She is a founding volunteer and has been with Kompost Kids since 2011. She is a Compost Coordinator for the Bay View Bash and prior to her involvement with Kompost Kids, she was a Volunteer Compost Courier and Composter for three years with the Milwaukee Community Compost Network.
