Green Drinks Milwaukee: Milwaukee’s Monthly Green Networking Event

Join us for good drinks, good conversation and a chance to network with other environmentally minded people.  Let’s bring together the environmental/ green/ sustainability community in Milwaukee and have fun doing it!

WHERE:  Best Place at the Historic Pabst Brewery.  901 W Juneau, Milwaukee.  map it   This unique German-style beer hall is located in the Pabst Brewery re-development.  The “Brewery” was recently awarded LEED-ND Platinum, making it one of the greenest neighborhood developments in the US.

Parking: There is free two-hour street parking until 9pm in front of the building, or metered parking on 8th Street and 10th Street. Caution: they do ticket in the evening here.  Alternatively, the parking structure across the street offers parking at $0.75/hour.

SPEAKER:  Steve Hawthorne – Founder, Nine Bars, Inc and Member of the Specialty Coffee Association of America Sustainability Council

Topic:  Social Responsibility in the Coffee Supply Chain

Steve has worked in the specialty coffee industry for more than 13 years, spending the last six years working directly with coffee producers.  After his first trip to meet with producers in El Salvador, he was struck to see firsthand the struggles that producers face.  He has since worked to build sustainable relationships at origin.  Learn about the importance of social responsibility in coffee and all of the people involved in helping you to have your morning cup.

After the speaker we’ll share drinks and network.
